.PRJ saves & map paths?
To keep a project from searching unwanted default map paths while
rendering, I had deleted several directories using the info/configure/map paths
menu. Everything rendered quickly. Yet after saving the .prj, the map paths
were there again??? This is adding one and a half minutes per frame to the
renders.
Now I could obviously set up a new 3ds.set file, but this could become
tedious… and make it difficult to switch between projects. Any other
solutions?
The offending directories are on the CD-ROM. The reason the search is so
long is that I've got a dozen.ifl's assigned to about 70 materials, each .ifl
taking up at least two map slots. I get bogged down in the "Preparing maps…"
phase. The .ifl's are opacity and shininess maps. I suppose I could try out
supervary.sxp, or clone all of the objects and do material morphs to make them
appear/disappear.
Jonas, this is also a repeated wish for map paths to stay put when you
save a .prj file. As it is, new map-paths slide to the bottom when saved. If
they stayed at the top they'd be found immediately.
