Regarding your problem recording audio:
What type of audio card are you using? I'm using a Tropez and I had the
same trouble until I realized that you have to set the Tropez mixer correctly
(with only one input selected).
If you are using the PAR VCR, you should be able to hear the audio from a VCR
or other source through your speakers before you start recording. Does this
happen? I've used PAR/VCR quite a bit and it does work well — after you figure
out all the tricks.
