#PAR VCR not rec audio!

I put in a Soundblaster 16ASP board, and the very latest drivers available for
PAR/Windows- but it won't record audio. It records the video, but no audio. It
says something after "recording" like "check to see if there is HD space,
and/or the capabilities of the sound card" Both are fine. Plenty of disk
space (185 MB) and I can record 44.1/16bit Stereo in "Cool Wave Editor".. (and
have tried all settings in PAR VCR any ideas? I need this done asap.

Here is a long shoot- Check the audio output settings and see where it is
trying to record your audio files. It might be looking at the PAR drive.

thanks, but that isn't it. I checked ALL the settings many times over. (and
tried many variations) I can't believe it- I spent the *WHOLE day* trying to
get it to work. I downloaded 2 versions of the drivers (ASOFT's drivers aren't
the latest, nor updated by DPS- BTW), and even new SoundBlaster drivers. All
hot off the presses.
I called DPS' tech support 4-5 times today as well. As a result of the first
discussion, I updated the PAR drivers (2 700k versions total)- same problem,
second time was new Soundblaster (700k) drivers- same problem, and the last
time I never got called back. (4 PM or so) Very frustrating. The sound works
perfectly for Windows sounds, and Sound Recorder. I even downloaded _Cool
Wave_ (700k) to make sure the sound worked with a "real" app. Flawless.
Fortunately, the video isn't a talking head, but a voice-over, so things don't
need to match perfectly- so I ended recording them separately. I'll deal with
the rest tomorrow. I don't have time for this. 🙁

Just got in on the end of this. I assume you can't get the audio to record to
your hard disk with PAR VCR.
I pulled my hair out for a day too.
Check to see if a wav file was recorded to the drive someplace. Check the VCR
settings to see what the associated wav file is for a ANI file. See if you can
play that wav file.
The PAR VCR must record the data as a PRJ file otherwise you get video only
(ANI).

Yes, I can't get the PAR VCR to record Audio with the video. I checked the
audio directory, and there isn't anything there. (it said that it didn't
record anything, and that I should check the capabilities of the sound card,
and make sure there is enough disk space) It still doesn't work, and I lost
work due to it. (and DPS still hasn't called me from yesterday) I called
today, but they were at lunch break. Oh well, we're gonna get a different
sound card, and by that time I hope I'll have NT running. If it doesn't work
there, I'll not be a happy camper.
Have you been able to save smaller .avi files using the AVI codec drivers?
That bombs out too. I'm resorting to using Video Post, scaling the files down,
and using VidEdit (VfWwin app) to make a video only avi out of the targa's on
the HD.. Sure wish I had Razor Pro. Just can't get the $ for it.

Regarding your problem recording audio:
What type of audio card are you using? I'm using a Tropez and I had the
same trouble until I realized that you have to set the Tropez mixer correctly
(with only one input selected).
If you are using the PAR VCR, you should be able to hear the audio from a VCR
or other source through your speakers before you start recording. Does this
happen? I've used PAR/VCR quite a bit and it does work well — after you figure
out all the tricks.
