Ben, take an academic question about JPEG? About five years ago, Mitre
Corp PhD's, looking at digital radiology, decided that *any* data
compression greater than about 20-to-1 was necessarily destructive with no
recovery possible.
Has JPEG found a way around this? Or is the "intolerable loss" tolerable in
non-scientific applications? Rob.
