Ben, It's so special when two people agree to disagree :<) Why the Amiga needs MS-Works (Wrap-up of points): 1. Educational market needs product because: a. Prospective buyers are more likely to recognize MS Works than the Amiga as brand names. Remember, marketing efforts by IBM and Apple are much stronger than C=. MS Works is featured in their literature. It is a known quantity. Other Amiga Users who principly use these other platforms are yearning for it. b. MS Works is affordable in bulk for schools. Price is under $60. c. MS Works is the standard software package taught in K-12 schools in Indiana. 2. Home market needs it because: a. Reason 1a above. b. Data exchange capability is an important consideration for many prospective buyers who want to take work home from the office. So, would be quite effective when bundled with Cross-DOS. 3. Commodore needs it because: a. MS Works is likely a prerequisite to getting Excel and Word for our machine. (Yes, I really like these programs). b. Cross-pollination effect. Microsoft in the Amiga software section gives credibility to the machine. 4. Why the community of developers would hate it: a. The "little guy" is never subsidized, why would Commodore subsidize a company bigger than itself? b. C= would be undermining the market-share of all those other integrated packages out there.
