George, << Inclusion of API info in VB manuals >> While I see the API as a definite (and indispensable) part of VB, its use is really an extension of VB, and that's just how MS handled it. There is a chapter in the Programmer's reference dealing with its use, and there is an add-on with the API reference manual and online documentation. I personally feel there is already plenty of documentation. What's needed is a much better treatment of the interface between VB and the API. I found the chapter on using the API assumed I knew a lot more than I did, and much of it didn't make sense until I had hacked my way through a few calls (and lots of UAE's). Including some examples of using the API would be a definite help. So from my perspective, the need is not more documentation, but a better editorial job of what's there already. Including in VB all of the data types used in the API would also be a help, ie, byte, word, dword, etc. But let's not add another 20#'s of documentation that not everyone wants, some people already have and is readily available as an add-on if we do need it. It would only raise the base price and require Egghead to buy stronger bags. –dennis There are 2 Replies.
