I'm afraid I disagree with you… the fact that I CAN now buy/fit a computer on my desk is what MAKES it a *personal* decision. Again, my point is (in response to your statement/question of why anyone would want a computer that looks like a stereo component)… why not? Things change. I'm not making any claims about what a CDTV is or isn't capable of, only that home appliances in general are becomming more and more cabable, and thus more computer-like (and thus harder for joe-blow to operate, but that's part of my point…). Computer-weary people may likely feel quite at home operating a high-tech VCR or CDTV, and giving the ability to expand it into a functional computer may ease the transition to a 'real' computer, and in some cases satisfy the person's needs (maybe they just want to use it to keep a database of CD titles, a grocery list or appointment calender) for a computer. I'm guessing that (if you didn't state it already) part of your reasoning is "why would anyone want a computer in the living room?"… some of the examples I listed above are prime examples to repond to that question (assuming you had asked it <grin>). If my stereo, vcr, laser-disk player and TV are all in the living room, I don't want to have to go to the 'office' to update or reference my CD-titles database or reprogram my VCR edit-controller.
