HOW TO WAVE A FLAG?

I thought you wanted the close up camera views to be smoother. The tesselation should help with that. Now you want to introduce multiple waves to the animation? Actually there several ways to do this, some more difficult than others. You can try to apply the IPAS twice to introduce a blend of smaller waves. Or an easier approach would be to start from scratch and use something like Mirage as an IXP and composite the new flag animation over the rest of your scene. Now that I recall the original flag animation did have a pretty random wave look to it. I used it in a project with a checker flag for a race track TV commercial and it looked pretty damn good by itself. You maybe doing something very wrong with it if you don't thing it looks real. I'm not sure I could improve on it at all.
