Kevin,
I believe that the price on the Performa 400 (I still think that
"Performa" sounds like a condom) goes for around $1500…without the
monitor. Keep in mind that this machine it pretty much non-expandable,
and has a 16-bit memory bus.
Now…look at some PC prices. I just got a Gateway 2000 brochure that
is selling a *loaded* 486 66/33 DX2, with GUI accelerator (the latest ATI
card with VRAM…very fast, and local bus), 8 megs ram, 340 meg IDE HD
(again, local bus controller), monitor, software…for under $3000.
