You bet there are restrictions, John. No business use – period! Though
the FCC is looking at some changes that will allow US hams to do things
such as order up a pizza using an autopatch.
IS the 30 miles pretty well line of site? What you could do is get a
couple of business band FM radios (would have to be purchased/licensed,
etc) and use them and run packet for data or use the mike for voice.
