Ramon, Thanks for your comments. My position on read ahead is that since Speedway pulls the entire file into cache, chances are more than the CPU requested will remain there and 'may' be used. Hard disk read-ahead offers limited benefit except on sequential track/sector benchmarks like coretest or sysinfo. I apreciate your feedback. You may see better improvement in your situation if you use a hard disk based cache. The reasoning is that a 2-4 Meg. Ramdisk won't work as well as an 8-12 Meg. hard disk based cache with a supplemental disk cache in RAM. Reese.
