I really don't have any idea what your problem could be. My (tiny)
company connects our two offices via modem – we have a Supra 14.4 in one
office and a PPI 14.4 in the other, and we have no problems connecting
with each other. We're using "standard" default configurations, and have
always connected V.32bis/V.42bis without problem.
