I have a NEC CDR-83M with a ProAudio Spectrum16 and/or a Trantor/NEC SCSI
adapter. I've been experiencing the same problems you are. The CD-ROM
worked perfect at first, then he got old… Start taking more and more time
to access the disks and now it takes so many time to do it that I can't use
it. Maybe this is related to the NEC drivers or something inside the drive
itself. I also tried a couple of SCSI adapters with no help.
Just in case you solve this problems, please email me about it. I'll do the
same for you.
BTW, do you know where to find a NEC rep here on CIS?
