Yah; in retrospect, waiting for FMV was a mistake on Philips' part.
I agree that technical advantages don't always mean much to consumers…
witness the popularity of VHS, the Commodore 64 and the IBM PC. But it'd
be nice if everyone chose a little better this time around 🙂
Personally, I think that all the standalone player makers have missed one
huge note: if they'd add the ability to also hook the player up as a
CD-ROM drive via SCSI to any computer, it'd sell like hotcakes to those of
us who're always looking for an excuse to get something new 🙂 🙂
