This raises an interesting question: Let's suppose you could have either an NEC84 or a Texel 3024 at the same price. Each is internal, each is dual-speed, so data rate is 300 Kb; NEC's claimed avg access time is 280 msec, Texel claims 265 msec. (Or, compare the corresponding external drives NEC-74 vs Texel 5024 .)
