John, GIF can always be put back. However, the responsible thing is to pull the support because we now _know_ that we are using someone elses intellectual property to which they currently have a legal claim and to which they are currently legally restricting access… or else to purchase the license from either CIS or Unisys – and that's not a good business decision for us, so we won't do it… they want far too much of the price considering what GIF provides (which isn't a heck of a lot, frankly). If Unisys changes their position, we'll just whip that stuff right back in there. If not, well, there you go. GIF, in fact any 8-bit limited format, is pretty obsolete at this point. –Ben …via AutoPilot
