Yeah, they changed the IDE interface a while back and you could not get older
and newer drives to run together. That might have been what happened in your
case.
But information on rectifying the problem was readily available, unlilke the
situation with the Amiga.
In any event, I have them working now – and in the future will stick with
SCSI devices.
