Brian, even though CBM did follow the IDE standards, and as much as I try to respect them for that, I still try to look at things from the typical user's point of view. They don't care whether or not someone broke the rules, or in this case followed them. All they expect is when the computer is first turned on that it starts booting from the hard drive. And I'm not just talking about the Amiga, but any platform. Now when they find that they have to do a warm boot to bring it up do you think they are going to really care that CBM followed the standards? Nope, not hardly. They (CBM) should have tested the 4000 with a few more IDE drives, and provided a way to extend the time before the controller starts it's polling. Limiting the 4000 to very few IDE drives on an approved list just doesn't seem like a very good solution. // John – (Flying via AutoPilot) \X/
