Joan …
Betty has just flitted off to Europe. She may be out of touch for a day or
so due to jet lag, but I'm sure you'll be hearing from her.
About that INSTALL HD0: CHECK thing .. be sure that you are using a NUMERIC
ZERO, not a letter O, when you type it, and do put the spaces in place.
Your file s:startup-sequence looks as if it is in good order, at first
glance, so after you do the INSTALL HD0: CHECK, you may well be ready for the
next step. If the response is 'No bootblock installed', then we're gonna
install one by typing INSTALL HD0: (this time without the word CHECK).
If you get some response other than 'No bootblock…', come on back and tell
about it. I am a little concerned that a virus has been trying to meddle with
your bootblock, and after we fix things it may try again. One of our early
priorities is to get a good virus checker into your hands.
By the way, how much memory do you have on your Amiga? If you're not sure,
command AVAIL and tell us what response you get.
