I to agree that this is a substantial problem in the vibrant implementation for
fast
preview ……. as an autodesk developer I feel that force feeding the user to
conform to an 8 bit display, limits the user and sacrifices the very
performance that all of us have been working towards for over four years now.
HSC's product which is in develpment (Kai's power tools) in particular, allows
the user to have acccess to a true color(24 bit) interface within ….any….
editor he chooses, the purpose of this is to allow the creative individual
total freedom to express and to have no limits as to what is possible with his
imagination at any time he chooses in his creative process. This interactive
/realtime feedback allows the user to achieve greater results, as creativity
becomes an iterative process in which he the user is the one who says when
enough is enough and the job is done…..
..As developers we should do everything possible to "empower" the user as
opposed to laying constraints upon him… In a time when finally the PC is
enjoying an influx of high resolution display cards and monitors, i.e. 1600 x
1200 24 bit and anything else you can think of for less than $500.00
,compelling the user to use lesser resolution displays cheats him out of the
performance he deserves… why would you force the user into the
past,,,….let's take advantage of new hardware/software technologies and push
them to their logical extremes,….. allow a user to switch between display
modes on the fly, there is no particular black magic in this function and no
reason why it could not be implemented in the current vibrant 3D Editor or
Keyframer scheme of things, enpower the user….
in the end it makes everyone happy…… happier users happier developers and a
healthier product…..
keep on pluggin…in
