<<My impression is that where ever possible companies prefer SGI machines ( if they can afford it) running ALIAS. . Judy>> Without selective ray tracing, voumemetric lighting and splines for modeling, I would have to sadly agree with you. I know, I am losing more and more game work because Alias and Wavefront. This has a lot to due with the final image quality. The blue box is cropping up every ware. But we know The Yost Group are not going to take it lightly . "revenge of R5" Gary- Please make the hottest selective ray trace rendering option ever made! I don't care if it is slow as long as I can turn it on or off. I am not saying the scan line engine should be removed. We need selective ray trace rendering option for glass and chrome. From some of your posts I know you are working on this for us <g> <<The rendering time is much much faster than the equivalent image in 3DS>> I think Alias is slower but I would say that Wavefront is little faster. << ALso I have heard companies claim that their artists can build images quicker in Alias and one that are more life like.>> It is a very deep modeler. -Brandon
