Larry, I think we're talking different things. Your definition of quality is measured by your own eyes. Video signal provides the full bandwidth (the framework) but your work may not take advantage of it (the video). Just like I can do an all B/W movie on a color TV and it can still be of broadcasting quality. The only thing odd is that C signal in this video is all black. It is just the way I produce the video. Likewise, I can add noise filter, add distortion, cut the frames and put them randomly to make it looks jumpy, do disco dance while taking the shot, do any nasty things to make your eyes feel sorry when seeing my video. My intention is to make sure all the images inside my video look really bad when it gets broadcast. However, the video itself can still be of 'broadcast quality' because all the little dot in each frame has a size and color fidelity within the scope defined by the standard. It is correct to say those "The funniest American Home Made TV" are NOT broadcast quality according to your standard. In fact, in here, these kinds of v-8 tapes will must first be converted in order to pass the regulation for the signal standard, not to mention the quality standard defined by picture resolution and color fedility. Please check Pat O'Brien's detail comment in a previous mail about what is called "Broadcast Quality" defined by your FCC. Glad to know every country defines a similar standard so that we don't have to tune our TV set everyday or before every TV show that we will see. –Vincent Chen
