Thanks for responding to my message.
I would like to emphasize two things:
1) I really *like* 3DStudio. I wish I could continue to support it. It is with
regret that I must consider other packages.
2) I don't want something for nothing.
There may be people out there who are using 3DS to design piping systems for
office buildings. A "piping module" would be a wholly appropriate third party
offering. Or, as another example, I wouldn't expect an "astronomy package" to
be part of the core product. Personally, I would cheerfully pay extra for an
astronomy module that could position stars to the 8th magnitude, the planets,
the sun and moon on a celestial sphere for an arbitrary date and time. But when
I look at the Yost group of IPAS modules I don't see tempting extras, I see a
kind of anti-features list: things you will never see in the core program.
C'mon, do "Twist, Stretch, Reshape and Optimize" really sound like things that
are of interest only to a small group of specialists?
When these features are sold as extras, they must be priced higher because
fewer people are going to buy them. When they are included in the core package,
the cost can be amortized over more users reducing the price that any
individual pays.
