Good luck, be careful, those PCB traces lift very easily.

To be honest I've fogotten what those symptoms were now – sorry 🙁 If it was
the "unexpected device status thing, it could only be the drive spinning up too
slowly.

Keep the faith ! As I mentioned my new 1G went in without a hitch. I'm about to
do the same thing at work on a PC without the benefit of HDToolbox ExpertPrep
or anything. I expect much more hassle – after all its a "plug and play" PC <g>
