The pivot is relative to the keyframe position, the keyframe position is
relative to world origin. It's possible, but not common, to have an object in
the mesh section maintain and orientation completely different from the key 0
orientation.

It depends on what view the object was created in. 3D Studio does this so it
can keep a consistant notion of what front, back, top, etc. is.
