Thnx a lot for setting the record straight. I understand your comment about editors but I disagree that the user is "locked" into using that editor exclusively. The way I do it, initial program creation is done with my favourite editor, vi, (on the ST) and I use the Laser C environment editor for touch-ups to get a program working. Of course, if the env editor sucks this can still be painful, but the Laser C editor is very good. Don't know about Turbo C, but if the interface is like most PC software I've seen, prehistoric or brain-dead would be good descriptions. So I don't see why an integrated system has to ave a "lousy" editor. I also don't think that int. env's (getting tired of typing that! lets call it IE's) are only for beginners. I am an experienced C programmer and I like them. The acceleration in the edit-compile-link-run cycle increases my productivity by several times. One of their best features is they work great on smaller systems (no hard disk, small memory etc.). Laser C runs very well from a single floppy and 1 meg of ram (I have two floppies however). Seems to me this can only increase your market potential by a lot. You mention the "next major release" of Manx will have an IE. Is going from 3.6 to 5.0 not a major release? Didn't know you provide the capability of making the tools resident, how much memory would it need to make the compiler, linker, and editor resident?
