I ran across you message about mining. I am new to CIM and am looking for people who are interested in mineral collecting. I am quite serious about it. I love to break rock, if of course they are full of crystals. I recently hit a large pocket of crystal quartz in Moosup CT. Other people had worked the site for about 29 years. I came along on the day that the tunnel opened up into a pocket three feet high and about nine feet in diameter. Two friends and I spent four days (and nights) working the hole. We pulled out nearly 600 pieces ranging in size of about an inch to two feet across, that particular piece now sits in my living room. I noticed your message talked about metal on metal. Very dangerous. Safety glasses a must. I am known also as "woody rock pecker", a name I picked up in Herkimer NY last year because I was known for my fast drilling with a hand drill. Unfortunately, all my drilling didn't pay off for me anyway. I undertand that the next week some guy punched in a little bit further into one of my holes and hit a pocket of crystals. And so it goes. I have recently discovered a granitic pegmatite in Alstead NH, long famous for them, which shows some promising signs. Good mineralization and crystals of mica several inches across. Also, good size feldspar and a small green beryl. The beryl got me excited. I'll be working it again this spring.
