John, But WP Corp did recoup their "costs to port" within a very short time. However, on the other hand, that "blanket of profit" (your words) didn't cover the continuing costs of the product, i.e., support, continued development and so forth. Thus….for a while, the Amiga product itself was profitable. When sales dropped off, then it became unprofitable. Which leads to the question of why sales dropped off. The most often cited reason was that the port was poor, not Amigatized, and an older version. And that leads to the question, "Should we upgrade the product so it again becomes profitable or should we simply drop it because it will never be profitable" And based on past statements by WP, they've decided it'll never be profitable, and thus have left a 1/2 (2/3rds, whatever) built product (the supposed alpha stage upgrade) on the shelf. And that…is what hacks people off. They did a lousy port, and based on the sales of that…decided the Amiga market wouldn't support a "modern" port. I wonder what their profit/loss statements would look like if they did a good port in the first place? For me…it's a moot point. I don't use WP, but for others…it is an issue. Don
