The access time is 380-390ms, buffer is 64k which meets the MPC standard
and is considered suitable for multimedia. The quality of the drive would
be what you'd expect from Matsushita (Panasonic) I guess.
No other drive will work with the SB Pro as it's a proprietary interface to
only work with this CD-ROM.
The drive is available alone from Creative Labs at $450 (internal) and
$550 (external) along with 5 bundled CDs which include Multimedia Windows
extension.
