Hey guys, this message has been awaiting a reply…can anyone assist? Thanks. I'm a little confused on the interaction between the RCPADI environment variable, .EXP drivers and the 3DS.SET and 3DADI.CFG files. I'm using the RCPVESA1.EXP file for my VESA driver and have configured it by deleting the 3DADI.CFG file and running 3DS. What effect (if any) does the 3DS.SET file now have on these parameters (i.e. the display drivers section)? How come I can't go to a higher rendering resolution by selecting a higher res during rendering? If I select a lower resolution, it seems to work, but doesn't fill the whole screen. Also, I have a Video7 VRAMII. Should I use the V7 drivers or the VESA drivers? Second question, what IS the best memory configuration for 3DS? I have a 486/33 w/8MB (I know, upgrade to 128 meg and a 66DX2 ASAP!). Should I be using a cache program? a memory manager? (which one?) no memory management? Final question, is there a way to get rid of unnecessary faces of objects that overlap (e.g. a finger stuck in a cake – can the parts of the finger in the cake be deleted – ouch. Trying to improve rendering speed.) Confused. /David Ellman, DAVID Corp
