What do I know? I know I say nearly the same thing about JPEG for video applications, and everyone tells me I'm crazy. But I do see the "Masked Engineer" in TV Technology saying the same thing: these compression schemes will bite us on the butt, eventually. For people who fight tooth and nail for bandwidth, be them videots or photographers, I can't imagine that any new introduction of loss or error would be accepted. But as I said in my previous message, Kodak makes its money from the casual photographer, not the professional.
