I don't understand why dithering the 15-bit image in the driver would be a 'lie': the banding is a result of displaying a true-color image on a display that can't handle 24-bit depth. Let's say I am saving the images to full 24-bit targa files. If they are output to video or print, they'll show 16.7 million colors. Since the Hicolor display can only display 32k colors, a dithering option would give a more accurate approximation of the 24-bit image. I realize that inexpensive video adapters are available which offer truecolor, but I don't make the purchasing decisions around here. What do you think? -andy/MicroProse
