Alec, Thanx for your reply. I will try your suggestion. But I do have a question. You mention that when saving an image as a 256 grayscale in Corel, the program automatically adjusts the gamma (or something similar) thus changing a white background into a shade of gray (bop ba, ba doo wa ba ba, ba doo wa ba ba, ba doo wa da) (sorry). Does this mean it will also adjust the gamma in a 256 COLOR image? The reason I ask is that the file I am working with was created in 3D Studio, rendered to a 256 color GIF and then imported to CorelDraw to add text. The background color is white, and when viewed with a GIF decoder or a raster/bitmap editing program it is true white. \jon\are.ndt
