#got it! (2.9)
Hi Mike and all at Impulse.
I just got my Imagine 2.9 disk this morning. Installed it without any
problems. After spending three hours the first thing I can say,
great work! I don't claim to understand the features after going
through the brief tutorial, but all seem to be easy to learn or
intuitive. The new perspective windows is just great! I could use it
without reading the description at all. I've been waiting for the
possibility to edit an object in the perspective windows (New Mode).
Thanks! There should be a default for the quick render. quick means
quick and not going through two requester. The new deformation tools
make working much easier and faster. Applique is a _very_ good idea!
The sticky textures are, IMHO, one of the most important features of
the new Imagine. This will make any kind of organic object look much
more real in an animation (I have to check this dino texture out).
Particles are a cool thing, but somewhat difficult to control. I don't
know how other programs handle particles, but I guess these particles
are just not an easy thing. The spine editor is also a nice thing. I
have successfully imported type1 fonts, but each time I wanted to
extrude and bevel them I got an error "all intersecting bug". ->
"Show result YES/NO" -> "not enough RAM" (which is nonsense, since I
have 13 mb free!) Sometimes I managed to extrude single letters. The
camera lines are nice, but with the new real time window there is
almost no need for them. Light lines are very helpful (although I
haven't managed to see them so far). For the PC version I miss a DOS
shell to be able to move/copy/delete files without leaving Imagine.
Is there a way to tell Imagine to show the pictures in a different
mode than 320×200? So far, thanks for the great program! It is worth
more than the $100 upgrade. -David
