Thanks for your response. I guess I wasn't very clear. I left another message
that gives a better description of my problem and potential solution. Briefly,
I'm getting distortion throughout the image but it is most noticeable in the
verticals. It isn't consistant which leads me to believe that there is a power
problem in the parallel port. I hope to have a new gender changer in a few
days from Amicore, Inc., which has a supplemental power supply attached. That
should stabilize the image going into the 500. If that doesn't do it, I
understand that I might have to replace the 8520 (parellel port) chip. I've
been told that it is manufactured by Commodore and tends to be a bit flakey.
Incidentally, from what I could see by comparing the results from another 500
and a 2000, there can be a tremendous variation in the performance of the
parallel port on these machines. Amicore tells me that their gender changer
has a built in regulator to keep the signal constant. I wonder how many other
problems like this will crop up concerning the 500?
