Thanks for the response. The 604 might just work out for us then, since we need only occasional access to a few CDs by about 4 or 5 users. I suppose from your description of how the Phillips 521 drive works with over the network it's probably not possible to record a CD due to the requiement for a constant uninterrupted 300 Kbyte/second transfer to the recorder. The workstation hosted software we are currently using has a hard enough time doing this from its local drive. I doubt a non-idle file server would keep up. Thanks again!
