Hey Mike, Man this is what's really great about hanging out in the ASOFT Forum. I get a chance to chat with all you cats whose work I admire and respect. ( I heard somebody in New England just say, "What a wank statement.") But it's the honest to God truth. I think I'm pretty good at what I do. But I can't do what you do. SunDog Productions. Cool name. Man, animators come up with the coolest names. Wait a minute. Is this the Mike White responsible for "Trip with Dali?" ( LOL ) Are you part of the lost sixties generation, dude? "Groovy aqua rock," "groovy clouds," "groovy tie die," "rainbow taffy…" Man, pass some of that stuff this away…… 😉 "Get Happy Layers?" "Brain matter" "Brain static" "Psychedelic Planet" and "Dali Sublime" Yeah, you right. I wanna party with you, guy. This stuff is really neat. I haven't even begun to explore all of these tools. I know I'm going to have some questions for you. Do you hang out here too? Imagine Photorealistic Textures Agate, Marble, Granite Textures and Earth Generator The whole thing about fractals escapes me. I'm not a mathematical genius. I'm an artist who traded his canvas and brush for a monitor and a mouse. ( Well it wasn't exactly an even trade. <G>) I like this Earth Generator. Did you do the Imagine Fractal Bouquet? How many people are hacking away under the SunDog banner? Do you hang out in Denver with the Schreiber tribe? I spent almost a year there at Lowry Air Force Base studying photography with Uncle Sam. I used to take off on the weekends and go skiing in Breckenridge and Vail. It's really beautiful there in the spring too. I know one of the guys there, Chris Thomas, from AEC '91 in Washington, D.C. We met at a big shindig they put on at Hard Rock Cafe. Schreiber works him hard in the tech support area. Imagine Fractal Textures Definitely. Mike, I know I'm sounding like a newbie. I guess I am in a lot of ways. Fact is, I've spent most of the last four years working with Autodesk's 2D products, Animator and Animator Pro. I've stood on the sidelines and acted as cheerleader for the 3D artists. And hoped that one day the X,Y,Z coordinates would sink in to this canvas oriented 2D brain. I'm still plugging. A few years ago, Bob Bennett sent me one of the first copies of 3D Studio to roll off the production line. A co-worker with a CAD background, and a more powerful computer than I, took to it like the proverbial duck to water. His name is Jim Rodgers and he's good. I landed him a job at Origin through Animation Nation. In fact, I introduced Origin to 3D Studio. Rodgers ended up working with Chris Roberts on the Wing Commander series. You may have seen some of his work. He did a lot of the development of the fly-by of the Texas state capitol building that appeared on the Autodesk '93 Demo Reel under the CAD Studio name. I'm glad to know you're here in the forum. Maybe you can tell me a little about your company and how you came to produce all of these neat routines. Some of the veterans here may already be familiar with your role, but hundreds and hundreds of people pass through here on a regular basis. And a lot of them are new to the scene.
