Hey Colorado dude, Where's the beef? I want my meatballs! Oops. Where's the Blobs? I want my Metaballs. :^) What's the story from the Rockies? I received the Puppeteer 1.06 Friday. Spent the whole weekend exploring. What other goodies do you have cooking in the kitchen? Kevin Gibson Animation Nation <tm> -=It's a state of anticipation.=-

Hey Mike, Man this is what's really great about hanging out in the ASOFT Forum. I get a chance to chat with all you cats whose work I admire and respect. ( I heard somebody in New England just say, "What a wank statement.") But it's the honest to God truth. I think I'm pretty good at what I do. But I can't do what you do. Hell, I don't even understand it. At least I'm trying to. < My routines are being sold by Schreiber. > < Mike White [SDP] > I've got your stuff right here in my hands. Yep, SDP right on the label. SunDog Productions. Cool name. Man, animators come up with the coolest names. Wait a minute. Is this the Mike White responsible for "Trip with Dali?" ( LOL ) Are you part of the lost sixties generation, dude? "Groovy aqua rock," "groovy clouds," "groovy tie die," "rainbow taffy…" Man, pass some of that stuff this away…… 😉 "Get Happy Layers?" "Brain matter" "Brain static" "Psychedelic Planet" and "Dali Sublime" Yeah, you right. I wanna party with you, guy. This stuff is really neat. I haven't even begun to explore all of these tools. I know I'm going to have some questions for you. Do you hang out here too? Imagine Photorealistic Textures Agate, Marble, Granite Textures and Earth Generator The whole thing about fractals escapes me. I'm not a mathematical genius. I'm an artist who traded his canvas and brush for a monitor and a mouse. ( Well it wasn't exactly an even trade. <G>) I like this Earth Generator. Did you do the Imagine Fractal Bouquet? How many people are hacking away under the SunDog banner? Do you hang out in Denver with the Schreiber tribe? I spent almost a year there at Lowry Air Force Base studying photography with Uncle Sam. I used to take off on the weekends and go skiing in Breckenridge and Vail. It's really beautiful there in the spring too. I know one of the guys there, Chris Thomas, from AEC '91 in Washington, D.C. We met at a big shindig they put on at Hard Rock Cafe. Schreiber works him hard in the tech support area. Imagine Fractal Textures Definitely. Mike, I know I'm sounding like a newbie. I guess I am in a lot of ways. Fact is, I've spent most of the last four years working with Autodesk's 2D products, Animator and Animator Pro. I've stood on the sidelines and acted as cheerleader for the 3D artists. And hoped that one day the X,Y,Z coordinates would sink in to this canvas oriented 2D brain. I'm still plugging. A few years ago, Bob Bennett sent me one of the first copies of 3D Studio to roll off the production line. A co-worker with a CAD background, and a more powerful computer than I, took to it like the proverbial duck to water. His name is Jim Rodgers and he's good. I landed him a job at Origin through Animation Nation. In fact, I introduced Origin to 3D Studio. Rodgers ended up working with Chris Roberts on the Wing Commander series. You may have seen some of his work. He did a lot of the development of the fly-by of the Texas state capitol building that appeared on the Autodesk '93 Demo Reel under the CAD Studio name. I'm glad to know you're here in the forum. Maybe you can tell me a little about your company and how you came to produce all of these neat routines. Some of the veterans here may already be familiar with your role, but hundreds and hundreds of people pass through here on a regular basis. And a lot of them are new to the scene. I'm sure that many, like me, would appreciate the chance to learn more from the source. See ya. Kevin Gibson Animation Nation <tm>

Hi Kevin, It's nice to see such interest. I too traded in my paint brushes and canvases for the world of 3D. Unlike you, I jumped straight into 3D. You question: Am I "one of the lost 60's generation?" No, I'm not old enough to say that. I'm a product of 50's mentality parents and born in 67. So I guess I'm part of that GENERATION-X. You know, I have to say that you're the only person out there with such a response. It seems to me a lot of the time in this asoft forum everybody seems to pick you apart and not give enough good words. Kinda of like a high school mentality. You know… who has what and mine's bigger than yours. Instead of having fun and learning from each other. A little cut throat. A little too serious about this world of 3D. It becomes too much of a chore, and it's no longer fun. But enough on this subject. I just will have to say thanks. I had not received such a response. I didn't think anyone knew I was out here. Schreiber's catalog features several images that I've created. And though a lot of people have seen them, they don't equate them with Mike White and SunDog. About SDP… right now I'm a one person gig. Located in Fountain Valley Calif. Which is in Orange Co. You're welcome to call me at (714)-839-2384 or fax at (714)-839-4625 Or at SIRIUS in Balboa, Calif. Phone number is (714)-675-8049 just ask for Mike. I have found a few new programmers, so expect new routines soon. I've been working with other companies lately such as Cad Craft (on routines), and SIRIUS (for 3D animation, video productions, programming, and print work.) Cad Craft also has software out through Schreiber. Luge, Python, MorphMate, Page Turn, Etc… I will be putting materials for my routines on Cserve. Any questions you have, please ask. I'll try to do my best to answer. I really have an extensive knowledge on IPAS and software for 3D and video output. I'm also an Authorized Autodesk MultiMedia VAR. So feel free too ask. Also as you can tell, I'm an IPAS PLUG-IN developer. If your interested in some of my art work look for 72002,1010. A lot of my stuff doesn't have my name on it. For a while I was getting ragged for my spelling. It's sad that people judge you this way especially when they don't know the whole picture. My spelling was messed up along with other motor movements from a car accident I had 2 years ago. I had to have an operation last December. A cervical C-section non-fusion. My disk was impeding into my spinal cord about a 1/3 of an inch. This is screwed! These things happen. Now it's getting better. About the software done by SDP. First there's Imagine Fader four IXP routines. Second there's Imagine Photo-Realistic Textures four SXP routines. Third Imagine Fractal Textures and off hand I can't recall how many SXP routines. Fourth set Imagine Fractal Bouquet and as before I can't recall how many routines but there is one AXP Dust.axp and the rest are SXP's. A lot of images I uploaded on ASOFT were mainly created with SXP's from my sets. And yes all the materials were created by me. The ones you get with all four sets. Well, it's great to hear the positive response and if you can upload some images that you create with my routines I would like to see them. I also would like you to call to set something up in the real near future for BETA. It was real nice to hear from ya and please keep in touch. Mike White [SDP]

Exit Scot Susmann. The master of understatement. Thanks for checking in and giving us the update. I guess I'll take a course from you on editing my copy for brevity. I know you're hard at work. Look forward to seeing all these goodies. Kevin
