I agree with what you say about the way architects like tradition, but however I think this is slowely changing with new young architects at least here, in the school I studied architecture they have heavily invested in hardware, using Workstations, PC etc, different software and since about last year some students start presenting there projects using images, some of which created with 3DS, also the board of directors has interest in my abilities in visualisation and have asked me for a demotape. The way and time to evolve to visualisation will be a slow one, and mostly economic factors will decide about its pace. But in the end bye the time the 85 – 95 generation architects turn 35-40 I think this is going to have turned quite around a bit (So I think it will still take about 10 years before it will be totally common in our profession) Also clients still have to learn more about these possibilities, so they will go and find an architect that can give them visualisation of there project, however will they be willing to pay the cost in supluss??? Maybe not, we do live in a consumer market and most buys a guided by price, so will architects offer visualisation for no cost in surplus that could eventually be the case. Overhere we have seen such things happen, if we look at the administration surplus we had in the last 5 years concerning the submission of houseplans, then we could ask about 20% more to our clients, however do we, not really, why: free market, if your price is to high people leave and go to someone that can offer them a better deal. Also influencing this, people come to an architect with there house already thought out in there mind, so they really see architects mostly as drafters, why need more or pay more, we can do it ourselves???Get the picture. It requires a universal consciousness that people have benifts from visualisation, I do believe they have, but do they believe that (even the architects). It is still a very small minority in the building world that does believe that. Christophe
