Jim,
>>>It may be the Novell Network that is slowing it down, last night it was 9
minutes per frame, today its 58 minutes!
Woww!
Yesterday I saw your message about the 9min (486 66) to 53 sec (PowerMac 6100)
speed diferance and I started shopping for the PowerMac… If the ratio is 1:10
in comparison to 1:5 (Pentium 90) than I am seriously looking at changing the
direction.
Just a minute ago I got back from the Computer City and am more confused than
ever. I saw PowerMac 6100 — 60mhz, 8M RAM, 230 M HD for $1,637. Another, 8100
— 80mhz, same RAM, 500 meg HD + CD — the price over $3700… What is going
on… The 25% speed increase, CD, 270 M disk space + more potencial for
expansion cost more than $2000?! On the PC side that kind of improvement would
be worth no more than $400!
Right now I am ready to put some money to work… Having both platforms does
have some attraction (even if it creates some headaches) — but are we _REALLY_
talking 1:10 rendering speed improvement? How is the A:M file compatibility?
