My PowerMac is an 8100, not the 6100 :). The 8100s has four nubus slots, the
6100 none, the data bus on the 8100 is also much faster. Yes Apple is sticking
it to the power users with the price difference, I can't wait until the clones
come out! Rumor has it around Christmas or in January there will be some new
PowerMacs released that should be even faster yet!
In a subsequent message to Kevin I did state that the files are residing on a
Novell Network that the PC is accessing. Tomorrow I will try this again with
the files residing on the PC, a little fairer comparison, since our server is
using running with a heavy load. I'll post the new times tomorrow night.
