#CC Bashing
I have a Creative Computers story to tell. They lost my business over this
one.
While living is Memphis TN in 1990, I bought a GVP 3001 accelerator for my
A2000. This was when RAM prices where out to lunch, and Creative
advertised that you could buy the 3001 now and get the memory daughter
board latter.
A year an 1/2 later, living in CA, I had the cash to buy the daughter
board so I call up Creative. Memory prices had gone down by then, and they
were no longer selling the 3001 with the memory daughter board, which I
could understand. What I could not understand is that they said they could
not sell me a daughter board separate. All they had to do was order one
from GVP for me, but they refused. I had to call GVP and get the name and
phone number of a dealer in FL to buy one.
Not only was their behavior rude and unethical, it was stupid, because I
never bought mail order from them again (nor will I).
Another thing to note about CC. I lived a hour or so from LA and I visited
their locations there a few time (and I admit I broke down once and bought
some software there). They had the most terrible service I have ever seen,
in both of there store. At their Santa Monica store, I watched a frustated
lady wait at the cash register for about 15 minutes to buy a Mac while the
employee chit chatted with a friend of this on the phone. You could walk
arround for a hour in one of their stores without anyone saying as much as
BOO to you. These were not isolated incidents but a summary of about 6
visits in 3 years.
I can't understand how they make money.
