I saw DSS system demoed at the local Best Buy store (an electonics /
appliance chain). I didn't notice any strange MPEG artifacts, at least in
the short time I was there.
They were selling two program packages. One seemed to be more or less
'Basic Cable' stuff like CNN A&E E Discovery etc. This was called the
"Total Choice Package" for 30 bucks a month. One thing I didn't realize
was that it also had 28 audio-only channels for CD-quality sound.
The other package was the "premium channels" like HBO, Showtime, and the
Movie Channel.
