Mark, I personally prefer 2400 baud modems and if you are a heavy user of telecommunications, you might consider one yourself. While they do cost 2-300 dollars more, you can save that much in a relatively short period of time if used properly. For example, CIS rates for 1200 and 2400 baud are the same, so you could in theory get twice as much information for the same price or get the same information for 1/2 the price as 1200 baud. If you have your heart set on a 1200 baud modem, there are several folks here who have used the Avantek and seem to like it quite well. Obviously the Hayes is good as is the Novation Smart-Cat Plus (also Hayes compatible). Don
