YG> Larry, what Auto-Reflect map antialiasing setting are you using? YG> (that's the AA setting INSIDE of the Auto-Reflect map setup dialog) If YG> you've got that turned up to Medium or High and want more smoothing, try YG> dropping out of Turbo mode. I was using no antialiasing in the auto-reflect setup. I bumped it up, jaggies went away. There is a note on page 9-39 of the reference manual which says that the flat map option ignores the anti-alias setting. YG> Regarding using BALL.SXP as a bump map… it wasn't designed to be used YG> as a bump map. SXP's must be specifically coded to be "bump-mappable" YG> if you want to use them that way, and BALL.SXP was so incredibly simple YG> that we never did that. Explains that… 🙂 YG> Regarding specular color… it can be 0, but the Shininess setting YG> can't be 0 for reflections to be seen. I played with the shininess, specular color, and reflection % for a while. Still not quite sure of how all those are combined. If specular is 0, you will not get a reflection, even with shininess and reflection set at 100%. It appears that these 3 are all "and"ed to form the degree of reflection. Seems that specular shouldn't make a difference, but it does. Personally would prefer that it didn't, and allow it to perform it's "intended" function (i.e., specular color).
