Wolf, I hope you won't mind my jumping into this thread on color printers. For aover a year I have used an HP 500C to print both color and B&W. Recently I purchased a Primera color printer for use on both my Amiga 2000 and Amiga 4000 as well as on a DOS machine running Windows 3.2. I notice in several postings that you have a rather low regard for the thermal wax output of the Primera. I am surprised by that. I have been using the Primera with the 4-color thermal wax ribbon and the premium grade of paper from Fargo to print a number of graphics with both the Amiga and Windows. The results, to my eyes, are excellent –much better than I would expect for the $790 street price of the Primera. I have had no problems printing from AdPro, DP IV, or Final Copy II on the Amiga and use Graphics Works (MicroGraphics) on the PC. Colors are rich, detail is good, and the dot pattern certainly looks less evident that I would have expected from the 203 dpi output of the Primera. I am very satisfied with the thermal wax output of the Primera and based on recent reviews of the Primera in Byte, Amiga World, and PC Magazine the reviewers agree. In my experience the Primera's thermal wax output of *graphics* is distinctly superior to that of the only other color printer with which I have extensive experience –the HP 500C. One problem with the Primera is that Fargo has been promising the Amiga driver for the dye sublimation mode for many weeks now. It still is not out. I have, however, done quite a bit of dye sublimation printing using Windows and Graphics Works with the Primera. The results are absolutely astonishing for photograhic images. The tonal range is great, colors are rich and vibrant, and again the dot pattern is hardly visible. The dye sublimation output of the Primera, in my opinion is excellent and when price is considered ($250 for the Photorealistic Upgrade) the results are astonishing. I don't work for Fargo, and I certainly don't receive a commission for selling their printers. I am curious to hear what you find specifically lacking with the Primera color printer? Tom
