#VTR SEARCH CONTINUES!
John:
>> I will not use IDE drives for anything…
You know you can never make such a sweeping statement in the computer industry!
Remember, the PAR uses an on-board controller and it's own formatting technique
to help get it's great speed and quality – it doesn't go through the system
bus, which is where most of your problems are. Martin had a very good reply –
when you are doing this, the characteristics of the disk itself matters more
than the type. Thermal recalibration is still a major problem on many SCSI
disks, and the PAR has that totally licked!
Also, now with manufacturers coming out with 1.0 and 1.7 gig incredibly fast
IDE disks, the format isn't dead yet!
