I agree, the way the manual is writen is important. I have to read quite
a few "american" manuals from time to time. Although I can understand them
the differences in the "common" language detract from the message that the
autho(u)rs intend.
Regarding yours date problem. I have just had a look into "Exfile, The
magazine for Protext users" issue 3. Within is a short slice of promerge
that may be more to your liking.

After this has been "printed" it alters the alt-d key use the format
month-day-year format so beloved in your part of the world.
If you like it, why not have it printed as part of your exfile?
