-> But now my questions is: WHERE DO I GET AN AT SOLDER IN SOCKET??? i've
looked -> in all me computer and electronics catalogs with no luck. called
around and salespeople -> laugh at me.
I just used a connector for the XT portion of the bus (I think 66 pins) and
cut it down. When you cut it just cut it back a little longer than necessary
and install it with the finished side toward the other connector.
The most difficult part of installing the connector was cleaning the solder out
of the holes on the motherboard. Get a good solder sucker, and be careful not
to put to much heat to the pads. I resorted to drilling the board rather than
destroy the pads with too much heat. It was especially difficult to desolder
the ground pin/hole.
I hope this helps and as with any hardware mod, I assume no responsiblity if
this advice gets you into any hot water. If you don't think you can do it, then
take it to a shop.
