Why not use Linux on both PC and the Amigas then? There are versions for both. I mean if you are willing to learn Unix and TCP/IP. In a nutshell, ethernet cards for PC's are cheap, for Amigas very expensive, TCP/IP is shareware for Amiga and comes with Novel Netware for the PC server but is a bitch to install without some major study. Oxxi sells Novel Client software for the Amiga for $100's. You still have no more than a basic file transfer protocal and a cli window into the Amiga, which you could get with TwinExpress on both PC and ami over a nullmodem cable between the serial ports plus SerNet shareware to open a CLI from a remote PC. The latter costs the same as a tin can telephone while the former is hundreds of bucks. A compromise is Arcnet and Envoy peer-peer GUI software between the Amis, or Parnet on the parallel ports, for a true amiga solution at $10-$200 and a nearly free TwinExpress serial link to the PC for simple file xfers.
